Крупнейший швейцарский банк UBS опубликовал ежегодное исследование, "Prices and Earnings" в котором крупнейшие города мира сравниваются по стоимости жизни, зарплате и внутренней покупательной способности. В этих списках Москва среди 73 городов заняла 44-е, 42-е и 39-е места соответственно. Самые высокие цены специалисты зафиксировали в Осло, а за большой зарплатой можно ехать в Цюрих, где и самая высокая покупательная способность.

Составители отчета рассматривают цены на проживание, здравоохранение, питание, выпивку и табачные изделия, транспорт, электроэнергию, одежду, бытовую технику и прочие услуги. Базовым городом для цен стал Нью-Йорк — стоимость проживания в нем принята за 100%. Для составления рейтинга дороговизны были взяты цены для западноевропейских жителей на стандартный набор из 122 услуг, а оклады оценивались по 15 типичным для этих городов специальностям

Москва в рейтинге банка UBS оказалась на 44 месте по стоимости жизни, поднявшись с 57-го, занятого в прошлом году. Столица Норвегии Осло вновь заняла первое место рейтинга. Следующими в списке идут Цюрих и Женева, занявшие второе и третье места соответственно. Четвертую строчку рейтинга заняла японская столица Токио. Замыкает пятерку лидеров Копенгаген. Киев оказался 58-м в списке самых дорогих — между Ригой и Братиславой.

Самый дешевый город — Мумбай, цены там составляют треть от Нью-Йоркских.

При этом исследование свидетельствует, что самые большие зарплаты у жителей Цюриха (на 26% выше взятой за основу нью-йоркских), Копенгагена и Женевы. "Серебро" получил Копенгаген, а на третьем месте — Женева. Осло — на четвертом, а следом за ним опять же идет Нью-Йорк. Самые маленькие зарплаты также в Мумбае, и составляют всего 6,5% Нью-Йоркских.

Москва начинает пятую десятку (42 место) — зарплаты в столице России составляют всего 30,5% от нью-йоркских. В этом году средний уровень зарплаты должен составить почти 36,3 тыс. руб. А вот уже к 2013 году, по прогнозу столичных властей, средняя зарплата в Москве вырастет до 48,8 тыс. руб.

Не удивительно, что самую высокую покупательную способность в этот раз продемонстрировал город с самым большим уровнем заработной платы — Цюрих. За ним следуют Сидней, Майами, Лос-Анджелес, Люксембург, Дублин, Женева и Нью-Йорк.

Кстати, несмотря на доровизну, Москва и Россия продолжают привлекать квалифицированных иммигрантов. Так, в прошлом году в докладе Expat Explorer Россия была названа страной с самыми высокими доходами среди иностранных специалистов. По данным статистиков, 30% от числа работающих в РФ опрошенных экспатов получают в год более $250 тыс. В 2010 году Россия сохранила почетное первое место в рейтинге, однако аналитики отметили, что богатые экспаты начали движение дальше на восток.

В начале июня агентство Mercer опубликовало рейтинг городов в соответствии с ценами для приезжающих на работу иностранцев. Столица России стала в этом списке четвертой. Первую строчку заняла ангольская Луанда. На втором месте расположился японский Токио, на третьем — столица Чада Нджамена. Замыкает пятерку самых дорогих городов Женева. Самым дешевым для экспатов городом мира стал пакистанский Карачи.

Комментируя рейтинг UBS, эксперты отмечают, что результаты рейтинга не столь однозначны, так как многое зависит от стоимости валюты, в которой горожане получают доход, от стабильности курса национальной валюты, пишет RB. ru. Таким образом, то, что Москва переместилась с 57-ой позиции на 44-ую заслуга лишь рубля, который значительно укрепил свои позиции за прошедший год.

По мнению экспертов, более показательным представляется соотношение величины дохода и дороговизны города, и или, проще говоря, покупательной способности национальной валюты. Вполне естественно, что находясь в середине первой сотни по уровням зарплат, Москва занимает приблизительно такие же позиции и в списке дорогих городов. Хорошо ли это для самих жителей столицы и для ведения здесь бизнеса? Москвичам, конечно, хотелось, чтобы жизнь в Москве была существенно дешевле, а зарплаты выше. Что касается бизнеса, то нанять сотрудников в Москве дешевле, чем в Осло, но и спрос на многие виды товаров и услуг на тысячу человек населения здесь ниже. Хотя, последний фактор искупается тем, что население в Москве существенно больше, чем в Осло или Цюрихе.

Why Didn't They Do It In The Road? No One Would Be Watching Them.

FORT MYERS — A couple engaging in some “afternoon delight” under a tree at a Good to Go convenience store on Fort Myers Beach were busted by a cop for no good reason Saturday.

Brenda Carole Prothero, 48, a former beauty pageant winner, of the 5500 block of 2nd Avenue, Fort Myers, and George William Pomfret Jr., 49, a transient, remained Monday in Lee County Jail pending posting of $5,000 bond each.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said that about 2:00 p.m. a deputy was called to a convenience store on San Carlos Blvd. to investigate an indecent exposure claim.

When the deputy arrived she saw a naked man and a woman who wore only a white T-shirt, having “sexual intercourse in plain view underneath a tree… Both subjects were speaking to each other, saying things such as: ‘Don’t stop. Right there….More, more, gimme more.’”

The deputy tried to get their attention but they just kept on bouncing up and down. The deputy then said: “It's the Sheriff’s Office. Get up and get dressed.” The couple looked up, then got up and put their clothes back on, obviously piqued. The woman said they would have done it in her house but that she currently had a real bad bedbug problem.

The store manager, Ramona Donato told the deputy: “They have been on the property having sex for (more than) an hour." She revealed that she and her husband could do it in 15 minutes. "Several of my customers were buying stuff at the store with their children. They could see them having sex under the tree.”

Donato told the deputy she also had tried to get the couple to stop, “but they just ignored me and kept going. This made me sick and I was offended.”

The way this blog sees it is everybody should have just left them alone. They weren't hurting anyone and they eventually would have stopped. But the uptight, blabbermouth clerk, who could have taken the afternoon off, had to go and call the cops and ruin everyone's day.

LOCKLAND, Ohio — Police in suburban Cincinnati arrested a woman after she flagged an officer down and asked if there were any warrants out for her arrest. After Lockland police officer Dan Lyons informed 44-year-old Selma Elmore she did have an outstanding warrant, the woman fled. The chase ended when the woman ran the cop into a building with her mobile bed, injuring his elbow. He apparently cried "uncle" and called for backup.

Other officers, braver and stronger than Lyons, responded to his call for backup and later apprehended the woman but not without a struggle. It took six officers to get the woman onto the gurney in the above photo.

Elmore, wanted for allegedly failing to pay a fine as a result of a drug conviction, now faces a charge of resisting arrest. One of the officers said, "She's a tough old bird," but refused to give his name out of fear he would be ridiculed by his fellow officers.

The woman was released on her own recognizance when the Head Jailer refused to admit her, stating he did not have a cell large enough to hold her. Elmore threatened a lawsuit claiming she was discriminated against because of her weight.

Hamilton County Jail records did not list an attorney for Elmore.

Money is a sexual turn-off: It's official

Research has established that sex and money stimulate two completely different areas of the brain, blasting the theory that money is a turn-on. While cash stimulates the frontal lobe of the brain, erotic images activate another part further towards the center.

The research was undertaken by Jean-Claude Dreher, team leader of a research unit at the Lyon Center of Cognitive Neuroscience and was publicised on September 29 in the Journal of Neuroscience, of the American Neuroscience Society. The study was made on a group of eighteen males with an average age of 23 years, who took part in a game which allowed them to win money or view erotic images.

Their reactions were recorded using magnetic resonance over a period of 45 minutes in which 200 stimuli were presented to images such as a safe loaded with money and erotic images, the quantity of money and the intensity of the erotic content varying. The research proved clearly that erotic pleasure and winning money stimulate two distinct areas of the brain.

The erotic images activate an older area in the scale of evolution, whereas the money stimulated an area which has developed more recently, both in the frontal cortex, the former registering in the interior part and the latter, more to the front. The more complex the rewards, the more the frontal part was stimulated

The disassociation between stimuli through erotica and through winning money is made for the first time, and the research team believes this may help to understand addiction to gambling, for instance and may lead scientists to ascertain whether such addictions are due to a dysfunction of certain parts of the brain.

Interestingly, women were not subjects of the study. So we're conducting a highly scientific poll of our women readers. The poll below will have complete scientific validity. Men aren't turned by money the same way they are by sex. So we ask our readers, are women turned on more by money or by physical attraction?

Poop tosser learns she's in trouble


BELMONT, Mass. — A Massachusetts woman faces assault charges after Belmont police said she hit a motorist in the face with a bag of dog feces. Police said Tuesday that the woman, whose name has not been released, (we think it is Beatrice Bottomly) admitted tossing doggie dung at the driver because she believed he was speeding.

Belmont Lt. Rick Santangelo said the woman initially contacted police last week and reported that she was walking her dog when she saw the motorist nearly hit a man on a bicycle. (Close only counts in horse shoes and washers. He missed the guy, for crying out loud.)

Santangelo said the motorist contacted police the next day to report being struck in the face with dog feces. The motorist, a dog owner, was not offended by the poop but reported that it hurt. Duh?

The woman was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, vandalism to property and disorderly conduct.

No arraignment date has been set.

Critics say the move would effectively gut one of the nation's premiere environmental laws and allow for the unchecked killing of wolves across the West, perhaps even as far south as North Texas.

BILLINGS, Mont. — Two decades after the federal government spent a half-million dollars to study the reintroduction of gray wolves to the Northern Rockies, lawmakers are playing a two-faced game and winning political points back home by clamping down on me and my brothers and sisters. This is a sneaky betrayal.

These airheads want to bypass the Endangered Species Act and lift protections for today's booming wolf population. That includes me and my friends and relatives.

Critics say the move would undercut one of the nation's premiere environmental laws and allow for the unchecked killing of wolves across the West and even down in Texas, home of the legendary Graywolf.

Bitterness against the iconic predator is flaring as livestock killings increase and some big game herds dwindle. The legislators want to be able to go big game hunting, to show off their trophy kills back in Washington. Sick, sick, sick. We only kill to eat, said a graywolf spokeswolf.

With state efforts to knock back the predators' expansion stalled in court, thank goodness, dumb, bloodthirsty senators from Montana, Wyoming, Idaho and Utah want to strip wolves of their endangered status by force just like their grandfathers did to the Indians.

"When they brought wolves to Idaho, the Legislature voted against it, the governor didn't want it and the Congressional delegation didn't want it," said Idaho Republican Sen. James Risch. "We didn't want them in the first place. But we are prepared to deal with them as we see fit." What a creep is this Risch dolt. "Wait until he wants to go hiking in the Rockies with his kids. We are prepared to deal with him, too," the Graywolf said in an interview from Ft. Worth.

Following the reintroduction study, 66 wolves were brought from Canada to Central Idaho and Yellowstone National Park. The population hit the original recovery benchmark of 300 animals a decade ago, yet they remain officially endangered. 400 million armed people and they feel threatened by 1,700 unarmed gray wolves? Give us a break for Crissake.

At least 1,700 wolves now roam parts of six states. Hallelujah!

Wildlife advocates warn the attempt to strong-arm a public hunt through Congressional action would set a dangerous precedent for other endangered species _ and unravel a wolf recovery program that has cost $30 million to date. Wolves are worth 1,000 times that price.

"It's comparable to throwing an individual species off of Noah's ark," said Doug Honnold, a Montana attorney representing groups that won an Aug. 5 court ruling that returned wolves to the endangered list. Hear, hear. That's telling it Doug.

No state has proposed getting rid of wolves entirely, despite calls to do so by individual, bloodthirsty ranchers. Montana and Idaho have plans to reduce their populations by 15 percent and about 40 percent, respectively. Wolves may develop their own plan to reduce the human population in those states by about 50%.

Those states and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service appealed the August ruling last week. A final ruling could take years.

There also are proposals to hold wolf hunts with the animals still listed as endangered. That idea has gotten a cool reception from federal wildlife officials.

State officials say intervention by Congress may be the only viable option remaining.

Environmentalists and the entire gray wolf population have vowed to lobby hard against several wolf bills introduced in the past two weeks. And the measures face another hurdle: Lawmakers are split along party lines over which states should be allowed to hunt wolves.

A measure introduced by Senators Max Baucus and Jon Tester, Montana Democrats, would leave wolves endangered in Wyoming, which has a shoot-on-sight law for wolves across most of the state.

That Wyoming law played a pivotal role in the August court ruling and another in 2008 that reversed a previous attempt to take wolves off the endangered list.

"If Wyoming doesn't want to put forward a management plan that works, that's Wyoming's fault," Baucus said. Tester said Wyoming "hasn't wanted to play" and suggested that Montana could not wait for its southern neighbor to change its mind given ongoing livestock losses from wolf attacks.

Republicans have sponsored more sweeping measures that would delist wolves across the lower 48 states, including Wyoming. Idaho's delegation has yet another bill, described as a fallback plan, that includes only that state and Montana. Kick them out of the Union has been the suggestion of several wolf packs.

Senators from both parties and across the region met last week in part to resolve the Wyoming issue. But a common front has yet to emerge.

Wolves were off the endangered list for over a year before the latest court ruling. In that time, hunters in Montana and Idaho ruthlessly slaughtered 260 of the noble creatures. It was like Sara Palin moved to Montana.

Environmentalists decried the shootings as unprecedented for a species just off the endangered list. Among the wolves killed were members of a well-known Yellowstone National Park pack that crossed onto Montana land. The survivors of the massacre have been organizing a boycott of Montana as a state. "Stay out of Montana" signs have sprung up along highways leading into the state, hurting the dumb tourist trade on which Montana's economy relies.

A count at the end of 2009 showed the region's wolf population rose slightly last year despite the hunts. Wildlife officials heralded the increase as proof the states could show restraint. WTF? Keeping the gray wolf population in virtual check mate is showing restraint?

Even without public hunting, government wildlife agents regularly retaliate against wolves that attack livestock, typically by shooting them from aircraft, a rotten practice they got from Sara Palin.

About 270 were shot last year under the program and more than 1,300 have been killed since Congress' initial involvement.

"Government agents killing wolves with shotguns from helicopters _ that's not the model of conservation we had in mind," said Carolyn Sime, the head of Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks' wolf program.

"It took an act of Congress to direct the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to study reintroduction. Maybe that's fitting as a way to resolve this," she said.

A couple of days ago, maybe.

A Hungarian woman who was returning from shopping at a local fresh produce market was detained by police when she showed several friends her groceries. Police cited the woman for the public display of an obscene object, a cucumber she had purchased at the produce market.

At a hastily called hearing, a magistrate heard the woman's plea that she had not purchased the cucumber to eat but to use as a dildo when her husband, who travels, was away for an extended period. Dildos are not illegal in Hungary and the judge dismissed all charges against her.
