Anywhere, USA
With high unemployment, chaotic housing prices, millions of unsold houses, foreclosures, and former homeowners who now are living with relatives, friends or in their cars, one would think homeowners forced to sell or lose their homes would put special effort into making their homes attractive and presentable to prospective buyers. But such is not always the case. Shown here are houses that invite disgust from prospective home buyers. The homeowners submitted the photos shown here to the realtors trying to sell these "fixer uppers." One of these, which lists for more than $800,000, is a veritable pig sty. The pig in the photo lives in the house.

Purloined Pizza = Arrest
Mont. man made up sob story that got him pizza, then arrested
Feb 01 2013
HELENA, Mont. (AP) — A
Montana man whose tearful reluctance to rob a pizza restaurant earned
him free food apparently made up the sob story that gained him the
clerk's sympathy.
Police in Helena say 33-year-old David Randall Lacey entered a Papa John's pizza restaurant on Jan. 22 and demanded money. He then broke down crying and told the clerk he needed the money to support his wife and children. The clerk made him a pizza and some chicken wings as he waited, and then he left.
The Independent Record reports (http://bit.ly/14vlTZr ) an investigation found Lacey has no children in Helena and changed his story when he saw how little money was in the cash register — less than $25, according to a police report.
He was arrested Thursday on suspicion of felony robbery.

Russian judge fired after falling asleep in court
MOSCOW (AP) — A Russian
judge has been fired after he caught 40 winks in court and then
sentenced an outraged defendant to five years in prison.
Judge Yevgeny Makhno of Blagoveshchensk City Court in Russia's Far East was forced to resign Friday for obviously falling asleep several times while trying a businessman on charges of fraud.
The case became a national scandal after the defendant's lawyer posted several videos online of Makhno asleep in court. The videos were then shown on state television.
Apparently the judge also took a cell phone call during the trial.
Makhno claimed that he was not sleeping, but listening with his eyes closed, the reports said.
But since a higher court decided not to punish him, Makhno only has to take an exam to be reinstated.
The defendant, however, will be given a new trial.
Facsimile of Judge. Not the real judge.
BS was wondering what would happen if a judge went blind during trial, or deaf?

U.S. Surfer Sets New Record - 100' Wave
Jan. 31, 2013
US surfer Garrett McNamara rides a wave during a surf session at Praia do Norte beach in Nazare, Portugal, Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013. McNamara is said to have broken his own world record for the largest wave surfed when he caught a wave reported to be around 100ft, off the coast of Nazare on Monday. If the claims are verified, it will mean that McNamara, who was born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, USA, but whose family moved to Hawaii's North Shore when he was aged 11, has beaten his previous record, which was also set at Nazare, of 23.77 meters (78 feet) in November 2011. Tis the season for dumb Florida crooks
Police: Fla. man arrested after pocket-dialing 911
Jan 31 2013
ORANGE CITY, Fla. (AP) — A conversation with two passengers landed a Florida tow truck driver in jail after his cellphone pocket-dialed 911 and dispatchers listened in.
Authorities say 19-year-old Matthew Dollarhide of Orange City was surprised when a Volusia County Sheriff's deputy pulled him over on Tuesday and asked why they had been talking about selling drugs.
The Daytona Beach News-Journal (http://bit.ly/WhbrCN ) reports deputies were alerted at 9:42 p.m. Tuesday and sent to a location where dispatchers said the phone signal was coming from. From the conversation, dispatchers learned that they were driving a tow truck and heard the name Harry. Deputies pulled over a Harry's Towing truck moments later.
Authorities said deputies found a crack pipe on Dollarhide, who was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
