Cheating? Money issues? Falling out of love?

All could be reasons to get a divorce.

But for one man in southern Israel, the final straw that led him to seek a divorce was his wife's decision to keep 550 cats in their home, The Times of Israel reports.

The cats apparently made great nuisances of themselves. They blocked his access to the bathroom, kept him from preparing meals in the kitchen, jumped onto the table as he ate, and stole his food, the husband told the rabbinical court in Beersheba.

"He was also unable to sleep in his bedroom because the surface of the marital bed was constantly covered with cats who refused to lie on the floor," the paper reports.  Not to mention the volume of cat hair everywhere and the odor from dozens of litter boxes.

The couple tried to reconcile at the behest of the court, but the wife wouldn't part with her cats, preferring to  split with her husband, instead.

All this as ABC News reports that social media are at the heart of a lot of recent divorces.
