Boat In Tight Spot

August 19, 2012

Two Japanese coast guard vessels put the aquatic squeeze on a smaller, Chinese fishing boat in dispute over ownership of a small island occupied by Japan at the close of WWII.  Numerous  groups have lived on and claimed sovereignty over the island for decades.

The Japanese Coast Guard is trying to prevent the occupants of the smaller boat from landing.

Someone eventually will have to back off to end this bizarre stand-off.  The betting odds favor the Coast Guard as the other craft lacks sufficient food and fresh water for its crew.
